Welcome to the Montana Council for History and Civics Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of history education in the state of Montana.
MCHCE grew out of the Teaching American History Program--a series of grants offered by the U.S. Department of Education for the purpose of providing American history-centered professional development to inservice K-12 educators. Since 2001, teachers from the Bozeman area and the state of Montana have participated in professional development programs made possible by the TAH grants. Through the enthusiasm of participants, we have created MCHCE to continue the work of the Teaching American history program.
Our organization offers memberships as a way to support Montana history teachers and history enthusiasts. As our organization grows, we will continue adding features to support history and history education!
